To become free of the past and the power it holds over us, we put dynamite on the doors of our self - imposed cages by blowing them off with acts of forgiveness. How can we forgive the persons that caused us so much pain?

It is not to let them off the hook. We do not say that what they did to us that harmed us physically and emotionally was OK. It was not. We forgive them to detach from the emotional experiences to move on without the continuing influence of their painful presence.
